Cigarettes

She hates seeing me smoke these things. I suppose that’s understandable. They smell bad, they leave a less than pleasant taste in your mouth, and I either feel the same or slightly worse once I get to the end of them. And yet, I find myself with my back against a brick wall with a cigarette in my mouth.
I don’t have a set-in-stone addiction. At least, I think I don’t. But I tend to smoke to either think about things, or clear my head. I think the most I’ve done this was in Dallas, when I was with Cassandra. In our honeymoon phase, We’d sometimes share a cigarette together. I’ll let your imagination set the scenarios we were in.
Later on, She’d bitch to me about smoking in the house. And that’s why I do it outside, alone and isolated. But it wasn’t like she didn’t care about me.
Of course, with Oro; she’s always worried sick about me. She loves me. She’s kind, gentle, funny, and shines like no other girl in the world... And that’s what I adore about her…
But she’s not as dexterous as I am. In fact, she tends to trip on her feet more than the average person. She’s fragile, and gets scuffed up more easily. She’ll sometimes come home with cuts and bruises, even broken bones. And yet, she smiles through it all. Still, I can’t help but dread the day of her inevitable mortality.
Because at the end of the day, Oreo is a human. And I am a vampire. Vampires are immortal… Kind of. Silver bullets, and all that.
I digress. I do find it sweet that Oro cares about me and my health, despite being immortal. And Oro doesn’t like me smoking. Because they’re bad for your health, and she hates seeing me smoke these things.
